About us

THE NEW STAR MISSION

Our mission is to introduce children to the cultural and personal benefits of musical theatre in adherence to the purposes set forth within Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3). We offer evening programs which are open to all children ages 5 to 17 years old. We will partner with charter schools to provide an approved elective course as part of their education curriculum.  We will also offer after school programs in some local public schools. We always encourage family participation in our productions. All participants are taught acting, singing and dancing in preparation for the end of session production which is open to the public. The children get exposed to the cultural significance of musical theatre while gaining lifelong skills. Children learn good study habits and how to budget their time as they learn their lines. They gain confidence and a sense of self-worth as they participate as part of a cast and learn to trust and depend upon one another. They learn responsibility through their participation in the productions. They learn to appreciate the efforts of one another as all cast members have a role with lines, we do not have chorus roles in our productions. Cast members are welcomed like family and are encouraged to support one another as they learn that each one of them has an important role to play in the success of the production. We aim to help produce well rounded young adults with a strong appreciation for the arts.

WELCOME

Welcome to the home of New Star Children’s Theatre. We aim to have children find their second home with us and find a place where they can grow as a performer, a student and as a friend to others.

Many of our performers grow up in New Star with some pursuing their love of performing throughout their academic career and even beyond. Some of the older cast members get involved with various assistant positions (like Directing, Choreography or Vocals) as well as learn about the “behind the scenes” aspects of a theatre production including stage management and tech.

We are open to performers of varying experience levels and differing abilities. We try to accommodate various needs as much possible so hopefully everyone can enjoy the magic of theatre. Feel free to contact us with more specific questions about your child’s needs.
