The New Star Children's Theatre SuperNova Performance Troupe

New Star is very proud of the very talented group of children and young people who make up their SuperNova Performing Troupe! They range in age from 7-16 and are made up of 18 exceptional kids.

To be a part of SuperNova, kids must audition with a song, and be willing to work really hard at dancing and singing, both with the group and as a soloist. Often compared to a “family-friendly” version of “Glee”, our terrific troupe works on numbers that are popular on the radio, as well as Musical Theatre and Disney numbers.

Supernova is very involved in the community. They have performed all over the Sacramento region at events such as the Fair Oaks Chicken Festival, Thursday Night Market in Folsom, Six Flags Amusement Park, Omni Youth Fest at Carmichael Park, Step Up For Down Syndrome at William Land Park, and many other events.

A big part of the philosophy taught to members of the troupe is the idea of giving back to others in need. Over the past few years Supernova has been involved in several community projects. Last year they helped to mentor a group of disadvantaged youth for six months, as part of a documentary called “The Supernova Challenge”. They also worked on a project called “There’s No Business Like Show Business” with a group of Senior Citizens at the Maidu Village Retirement Community, rehearsing with the Seniors on a weekly basis for 3 months and presenting the show to residents at 3 different facilities.

Supernova performs regularly for the residents of Maidu Village Retirement Community, the residents at Park Folsom Retirement Community, and has been pleased to present shows to the residents of St. John’s Women’s Shelter, Power Ministries “Sparks” program for homeless children, the opening of “Franny’s House” in Folsom, and numerous other equally valuable groups in the community.
