Kayla is very thankful that her mother put her in her first musical, “Fiddler on the Roof” at the age of four - it officially started her obsession with theatre and everything involved with the world. To this day she has performed in over 50 musicals, plays, concerts and galas. At the age of eleven, she became assistant director and choreographer for New Star, and she has held that position ever since, even helping whenever she came home from college for an extended period of time. At first the position was a big challenge for her, but she soon discovered that she really liked teaching, and makes sure to pop in whenever she is at home. Kayla began writing songs in high school and has helped to co-write songs for numerous New Star musicals - including “The Girl I Seem to Be”, “Peter Pan”, and “Aladdin”. She co-wrote a one act show entitled, “Just A One Time Thing” her junior year of high school, which was specially requested to perform for Liberty High School in Brentwood, CA. In 2008, she was nominated for an Elly Award for her performance as the Queen in “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. In college, she performed the role of Mary Warren in “The Crucible” and also wrote, directed and starred in a fifteen minute short. Kayla graduated from AMDA: College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts (LA) in Oct. 2012 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. She plans to continue acting, as well as teach - both of which are her true passions in life..
